John and Mary Pat Kaul, owners of Kaul Enterprises and numerous Kaul Family Restaurants and Lodging, as well as KCS, an Authorized U.S. Cellular agent, and Dairyland Cable Systems got their start in 1979 in the satellite manufacturing business. They ran KTI for about 20 years before deciding to sell the business in 2002. Owning Fitzgerald’s of Middleton was their first venture in the restaurant business. Soon after they also acquired The White House Supper Club, Arthur’s Supper Club and the Round Barn Lodge & Restaurant. The Kaul family’s adventures continued with franchising opportunities, through the Ramada, as well as the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery. Kaul Enterprises headquarters remains at 1450 Veterans Drive in Richland Center WI.
Kaul Family Restaurants donate a portion of proceeds to ANGEL (Autism Network through Guidance, Education and Life), www.angelautismnetwork.org, a nonprofit organization that provides education and support to families whose children are diagnosed with autism. Both John and Mary Pat serve on the ANGEL Board of Directors as Honorary Members. The Kaul’s oldest grandson, was diagnosed with autism in 1998 and since then they have made helping the autism community a major priority. Kaul’s daughter Jennifer, Adam’s mother, started the ANGEL organization in 2000. ANGEL is now a statewide organization that has helped thousands affected with autism. The family remains actively engaged in the autism community to increase awareness of the disorder as well as giving to families whom otherwise might not be able to receive the treatment and services.
